Neighborhood Task Force

The Neighborhood Task Force will guide recommendations relating to the broader community (e.g. amenities, infrastructure, resources, etc.).

The Neighborhood Task Force will review resident surveys, information gathering at community meetings, and other data to come up with recommendations for the Transformation Plan. Existing Neighborhood Plans will also be integrated into the Transformation Plan.

Neighborhood Task Force Recap presented at Community Gathering 4-26-22

Note: This is a 2 year planning process that will result in the creation of a Transformation Plan. The Transformation Plan will be used to attract funding to the implement the plan. In the meantime, there is funding for Early Action Activities. Early Action Activities are special projects residents identify, such as rehabbing a building for a special purpose or turning a vacant lot into a garden.

  • Keeping residents in place is the goal of this planning process.

  • There will be no redevelopment until this Choice Neighborhoods Transformation Plan is completed (December  2022) and ALSO funding and sites are secured to move the plan forward.

  • Choice Neighborhoods focuses on ALL units being replaced on a 1 for 1 basis. The other goal is to build replacement homes first, so residents don't have to move twice. Having a quality plan will help secure funding to make this possible, even though nothing is guaranteed.

It will also include neighborhood representatives from the Choice footprint (see map below) and resource partners. Stakeholders include:

  • Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh (HACP)

  • Allegheny Dwellings Tenant Council (ADTC)

  • City of Pittsburgh Department of City Planning (DCP)

  • Urban Development Authority (URA)

  • Allegheny Cleanways

  • Charles Street Area Council

  • California Kirkbride Neighbors

  • Department of Mobility and Infrastructure (DOMI)

  • Fineview Citizens Council

  • Foundation of Hope

  • Moms Demand Action

  • Northside Coalition for Fair Housing (NCFH)

  • Perry Hilltop Citizens Council
